Aspiring international legal professional Noah Al-Malt graduated from the advanced Master of Law program in Public International Law at Leiden University. Noah Al-Malt’s international legal experience includes working as a defense legal assistant for a complex case in the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
While in the Netherlands, Noah Al-Malt volunteered with International Dialogue on Underwater Munitions (IDUM), a non-governmental organization dedicated to the removal of conventional, radiological, and chemical weapons dumped at sea. IDUM advocates for the development of a multilateral treaty to ensure the safe disposal of such hazardous wastes at sea.
In 2013 and 2014, Noah Al-Malt was a delegate for IDUM at the 18th and 19th Conferences of States Parties of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). At these Conferences, Mr. Al-Malt assisted with the Underwater Munitions Side Events. Held at OPCW headquarters in The Hague, the Underwater Munitions Side Events included presentations, discussions, and other educational activities led by prominent speakers, including government leaders, educators, scientists, and other stakeholders.
Mr. Al-Malt's LL.M. thesis at Leiden University, "Underwater Munitions: Deciphering the Precautionary Principle, Decision Making in the Face of Uncertainty and Risk" drew upon his experiences with IDUM and OPCW State Conferences.
